Position Description

Class A CDL Truck Driver – Heavy Construction

Makin' It Move Transport, LLC is a growing, women-owned transportation company serving the heavy construction industry. We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL Truck Driver to operate a company-owned commercial vehicle on construction and hauling projects.

The ideal candidate is an experienced professional driver who understands that construction transportation requires dependability, flexibility, strong communication, and attention to safety. Project locations, start times, hauling routes, and schedules may vary based on customer and jobsite requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company-owned commercial vehicles in accordance with company policies and applicable DOT/FMCSA regulations.
  • Report to assigned projects and jobsites on time and prepared to work.
  • Follow dispatch instructions regarding project locations, start times, haul routes, loading locations, delivery locations, and other job requirements.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Director of Operations and office regarding project status, delays, breakdowns, jobsite changes, or other issues.
  • Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and promptly report mechanical or safety concerns.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection records, load tickets, and other required documentation.
  • Properly collect, protect, and submit load tickets and project paperwork according to company procedures.
  • Monitor the condition of the assigned truck and communicate maintenance or repair needs promptly.
  • Keep the cab and assigned company equipment reasonably clean and maintained.
  • Follow all jobsite, customer, and company safety requirements.
  • Communicate professionally with project foremen, plant personnel, contractors, customers, and other drivers.
  • Assist with other transportation-related duties as operational needs require.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL required.
  • Current DOT Medical Certificate required.
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Previous commercial truck driving experience required.
  • Experience in construction, aggregate, belly dump, end dump, dump truck, or similar hauling strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA safety requirements and commercial vehicle inspections.
  • Ability to safely operate a commercial vehicle on highways, construction sites, unpaved roads, plants, pits, and other project environments.
  • Ability to understand and follow dispatch and jobsite instructions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to maintain contact with operations personnel.
  • Dependable with consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work independently and make safe decisions in changing conditions.
  • Ability to properly maintain required logs, tickets, and other driver documentation.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the company's designated truck location.
  • Must be willing to travel 100%

Schedule & Availability

This is a full-time position. Work schedules are based on active construction projects and customer requirements.

Drivers must be willing to work early mornings, extended shifts, and occasional weekends when required by project schedules. Start times, project locations, and daily hours may vary.

Some projects may require travel or temporary work outside the immediate area.

Compensation

Compensation will be discussed during the interview process and will be based on commercial driving experience, qualifications, endorsements, and relevant construction-hauling experience.

Employment Period

New employees are subject to a 90-day introductory/probationary period.
